Carvery and Film afternoons

We have recently launched a fun event for the good senior citizens of the world. We offer a superbly-priced carvery with a film afterwards. Every first Friday of the month. Meal 12-1.30pm with film immediately afterwards. Book required.

Film night…

We run a regular ‘movie night’ at the Goldie on our rather lovely 50″ HD screen. It’s a fun and cosy event and always popular. Ask at the bar or call us for the upcoming film. Booking essential.

The Ladies who walk club…

An ever change group of local ladies take a civilised stroll around the quiet country lanes, setting off from the Golden Lion most Wednesdays at 10.30 with coffee and biscuits afterwards.  Don’t be shy if you fancy joining them! Men are actually welcome too.

Charity Quiz Nights

We run a popular quiz night throughout the year, which is aways fun and helps raise money for various charities. This year we are supporting our efforts with the Goldie bike ride, raising money for Gabowen Hospital.

The quiz is on the first Wednesday of every month, starting at 9pm.

Whiskey Tasting…

We hold regular, popular Whiskey tasting evenings, centred around the fine single-malt Whiskey collection behind the bar. Haggis, neeps and tatties served on the evening.

The Goldie Bike ride

An annual event at the the Golden Lion, the Goldie bike ride this year has the ambitious aim of raising up to £15,000 of charity funds for the nearby Gobowen hospital. This is centred around a group bike ride from Cardiff, back to the pub this June.

Get in touch if you would like to find out how you can support our efforts.

Route 76

Every year 10 pubs in the Vale of Clwyd hold a real ale and cider festival with the aid of the local bus service Route 76. This year it’s on the 9th July. It’s great fun hopping around the countryside on buses, between hog roasts, bbq’s and live bands. A spin off from this is the popular Voctober beer Festival, this year on the 1rd October.

We will be featuring live music and a barbecue, plus of course a great selection of real ales.
